On June 25th 1981, six young children from Herzegovina parish Medjugorje, on the Hill Crnica, at the part called Podbrdo, had an encounter with the woman who they recognized as Our Lady. They were: Ivanka Ivanković, Mirjana Dragicevic, Vicka Ivanković, Ivan Dragićecić, Marija Pavlović and Jakov Čolo. A day later, on June 26th 1981, Our Lady, for the first time, called for the peace, with the words: “Peace, peace, peace – and only peace! Peace must reign between the God and man, and between all people!” Mirjana, Ivanka and Jakov were entrusted with ten secrets and they no longer have daily encounters with Our Lady but once a year. The remaining three visionaries have daily apparitions and nine secrets were entrusted to them. There are three special places in Medjugorje. The parish church dedicated to St. James, the patron of pilgrims, the daily centre of gathering and joint prayer of the faithful that are invited for prayer, fasting and repentance by Our Lady. On the Apparition Hill, where the visionaries first encountered with the Our Lady, the pilgrims gather to pray the rosary. The place of worship of Christ’s suffer and renewal of devotion to the Way of the Cross is the Cross Mountain, on which the inhabitants of Medjugorje in 1934, in remembrance of the 1900th anniversary of Jesus’ death, constructed concrete cross with the inbuilt scapulars of Jesus’ Cross received from Rome. Trough three decades, Medjugorje became a place of pilgrimage for people from all over the world who leave with peace and love in their hearts toward God and toward each person. Croatian post Ltd. Mostar has issued 4 round stamps in se-tenant, in sheet 8 stamps + 2 vignettes and mini sheet of 4 stamps, postmark and FDC.
